Practically-motivated input sequences for nonlinear model identification

Abstract:

We consider the selection of input sequences for nonlinear model identification. Of particular interest are binary sequences based on two-state Markov chains. The results presented here illustrate the nature of the interplay between the structure of the nonlinear model, the switching probability of the binary sequence, and the variability of the resulting parameter estimates. Extension to MIMO problems are proposed. A corrected version of the paper is as downloadable ps-file available.
