Observer-models for Real-Time Traffic Control

Abstract:

The control of traffic lights is currently done mostly by program-selection depending on the time of day or on the average traffic-flow. Most studies reported in the literature have used flow models for controller design. These models can only be used for off-line optimization. For a optimal traffic responsive Control, an adapted observer model is needed. In this reportseveral observer models are described. Parameter-identification is shown. Verification and validation will be shown of further research. The robustness of the estimation and the necessity for error models need to be verified using real data.
