A Review of Embedding Theorems

Abstract:

A summary of results in the area of time-delay embedding theorems for nonlinear systems is discussed. These embedding theorems show that the dynamics of a given state space system can be recreated by a discrete time system. A review of current results for both autonomous systems (systems without external inputs) and input/output systems is given, and a summary of the important theorems and results is given. Also, a detailed list of references is given for work in thisfield. The intention of this technical report is not to reprove the results found in the original works, but instead to give the reader some insight into the methods used and results which might be useful.
