Application of FEM-Simulations to Ultracom Project

Abstract:

A system for body communication was developed. In order to learn more about the influence of the human physiology on the signal propagation a 3D finite element model, that was developed for transcutaneous electrical stimulation, was applied. The main interest was to find the influence from:
  • the different tissue layers
  • the position and size of the joint,
  • the distance between the sender and receiver,
  • and the possible effect from the system on the heart.
