Parameter Identification for Stochastic Hybrid Systems: An application to Subtilin Production by Bacillus Subtilis

Abstract:

In this paper we study the parameter identification problem for the production of the antibiotic subtilin by the bacterium B. subtilis. The problem is formulated as a stochastic hybrid system identification problem and many different cost functions are considered to capture the fit between experimental measurements and model predictions. The optimization problem that arises in the process is solved using Genetic Algorithms.
