Explicit MPC for LPV Systems - Research Outlook

Abstract:

Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) systems are defined as linear systems, where the system matrices are not constant but depend on some time-varying parameters. Contrary to systems with parametric uncertainties, the current values of the parameters are assumed to be known. The parameters lie in a bounded set, such that the LPV system describes a family of linear systems. Depending on the context, the variation of the parameters might be arbitrarily fast within this bounded set, or restricted by a certain rate of variation. The LPV framework constitutes a useful theoretical foundation for gain-scheduling which is a common procedure in many industrial applications. It allows the embedding of nonlinear systems into a family of linear systems, and thus to some extend the application of linear control techniques to nonlinear systems. In the talk I will give an overview about my research activities to develop explicit MPC for LPV systems and explain the basic concepts used.
