Grasp and Wrist Assessment System

Abstract:

This work is the result of a semester thesis supported by the Automatic Control Laboratory at the ETH Zuerich. It took place during the period of April until July 2006. An existing grasp assessment system, called the DGAS, was modified and tested. The main enhancement was the addition of a sensor capable of measuring wrist torques. So finger forces and wrist torques can be measured independently and in parallel.
First of all, an introduction to the project will be given. Then the old system is presented and the mechanical enhancements will be disscussed. Afterwards the mechanical model will be documented in detail followed by a short error analysis. At the end, final results and a conclusion will be given.
