Conference/Journal:

Invited talk at Roche Diagnostics, 16th October 2007
Abstract:

Many companies market large varieties of related products that are offered in many variants, configurations, and versions. These products include as diverse things as cars, laptops, houses, or software. To cope with the variability within these product families, "configuration management" has grown in importance in recent years. The talk will focus on product family modeling and feature modeling as the answer to the needs for configuration management within families of related products. XFeature, an open Eclipse-based feature modeling tool will be presented. We will show examples of how various products and product families can me modeled with the tool and how models can be used to automatically generate source code, configuration files, product manuals, UML models, or bills.
