Complexity Reduction of Receding Horizon Control

Abstract:

The explicit solution of optimal control problems has garnered increasing attention due to the fact that on-line implementation can be realized with a simple lookup table. In this paper a detailed complexity analysis of algorithms used to compute the explicit optimal control solutions is given for the first time. Based on this analysis, a novel algorithm with significantly lower complexity is presented. Stability and feasibility of the closed-loop system are guaranteed by the algorithm. In conclusion, the theoretical results are affirmed in extensive simulation.
