Linear system theory meets polynomial system solving

In this talk I would like to highlight some similarities between linear system theory and the treatment of polynomials in algebraic geometry. We will discuss: - Euclidean algorithm and simulation (1D) - Gröbner basis and simulation (ND) - System matrices and roots (1D and ND) - Identification and (real) root finding (1D and ND) After introducing the main ideas on 1D linear systems and univariate polynomials, I will focus on extensions to ND-systems and multivariate polynomials.
