Abstract:

The first part of the presentation gives an overview of the applications under consideration. Different categories of systems are identified, where several applications exhibit similar properties. This suggests a similar approach for the control. The second part focuses on the application of hybrid MPC to a buck converter, where the nonlinear behaviour of the inductor is taken into account. The dynamic behaviour of this system abruptly changes when saturation appears. Conventional approach consists in taking sufficient safety margin. Investigated approach approximate the non-linear dynamics and the transitions between saturated and non-saturated modes using a PWA model.
