Abstract:

In order to build a wind turbine emulator accurate enough to capture the important aspects of the wind turbine operation and at the same time suitable for real-time implementation a wind turbine model is required. In this project the effects of wind gusts on the wind turbine torque oscillations are investigated. In order to simulate different scenarios in closed loop a wind turbine simulation software is used. Based on the simulation results, structural modes of the turbine are identified and their effects on torque oscillations quantified.
