Optimizing the Control of a Non-Inverting Buck-Boost Converter in Respect of Energy Conversion Efficiency

This report deals with the optimization of the control of a buck-boost converter in respect of energy conversion efficiency. The implementation of a model predictive controller based on an adaptive linear constraint model is described, which is designed to follow its control input set points closely to evaluate the converter efficiency at various operating points. The available sensors for measuring the power losses of the system are analyzed and an appropriate method of measuring the efficiency is chosen. A procedure for optimizing the control input set point in respect of energy conversion efficiency is developed. Finally the results are represented and analyzed.
