Abstract:

Accurate and reliable sensors are key components of almost every closed loop control system. With new technologies, that can process more data in increasingly shorter amounts of time, camera tracking systems are becoming more and more appealing as sensors for closed loop control systems. In this thesis a complete tracking system, based on infrared illumination and retro re ective markers, has been developed. In a rst step all the right hardware components were chosen and an innovative mounting system was built. In a second step a software tool for tracking 1:43 scale race cars with a simple user interface was developed. iii
