Extension of the BRCM Toolbox to Include Solar Radiation Calculations

Model predictive control (MPC) is an promising alternative to existing building control approaches. It holds the potential of improving energy efficiency and comfort and to enable demand and response capabilities. An accurate while still simple enough building model is crucial in order to generate a tractable MPC problem. [12] The BRCM Matlab Toolbox by David Sturzenegger et al. that addresses this task and provides a means to generate building models in order to pose such a MPC Problem. In this paper we will introduce an extension of the Toolbox, to address and incorporate disturbances prediction in to the existing Toolbox. Therefore the DisturbanceGenerator Class is introduced. This paper aims to clarify the benefit and the structure of the DisturbanceGenerator Class and the physical principles itís based upon.
