Development of a Graphical User Interface for Autonomous Sailboats

Abstract:

Performing autonomous sailing manoeuvrers with a model sailboat implies that said boat has a target that it is trying to reach. Sailing competitions such as the world robotic sailing championship WRSC [6] define various tasks that involve sailing with different time- and position constraints. Paths to master such a task are built from waypoints and obstacles, that define where the boat can go and where not. In this semester thesis, a new workflow to comfortably set paths for the WRSC was developed. This workflow involves a graphical user interface, that allows to parametrize said tasks and export the data, as well as a new module, running on the boats firmware, that can be used to import the data and automatically build missions from the parameters.
