A Control Theoretic Predictive Model for Sector-based Air Traffic Flow

Abstract:

The goal of this project is to design and analyze a hybrid control theoretic model of an air traffic sector, and of an interconnection of several air traffic sectors. The project involves an interaction between Stanford (Professor C. Tomlin and PhD student Alexandre Bayen), Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center controllers, and NASA Ames (George Meyer). Stephen Boyd and David Dill at Stanford are involved in the related project of developing efficient computational tools for performing reachability of hybrid systems. Pascal Grieder will work with Alexandre Bayen and Professor C. Tomlin on different parts of the project; the project itself is described below.
