Hybrid (Switched) Systems in Engineering

Many dynamical systems in engineering can be modeled well by switched linear systems. I will show some practical examples and introduce our modeling formalism. The control of these systems can be expressed as a mixed integer linear or quadratic program. The program must be solved on-line in real time or off-line (parametric programming) with the solution stored in the form of a look-up table. I will discuss our approaches and their successful applications as well as a long list of open research issues and problems.
