Model Predictive Control in Electric Energy Applications

Electric energy systems feature a wide range of applications with a broad variety of characteristics in terms of dynamics, time scales and physical dimensions, which make them appealing benchmark case studies for MPC due to its flexibility and versatility properties. This presentation covers the work done on the topic at IfA in the past few years in conjunction with industrial partners and as such is divided in three parts, namely 1) control of dc-dc converters 2) torque control of industrial induction motors and 3) emergency voltage regulation in electrical networks.
