A survey of computational methods for Bayesian model selection and an introduction to High-Dimensional Model Representations

Abstract:
The talk will be divided in two parts: the first will be about the comparison of three computational methods for Bayesian model selection, as applied to a medium-scale nonlinear system describing the cross-regulation of a set of yeast transcription factors. In the second part I will present the basic theory of High-Dimensional Model Representations (HDMR), a tool that can prove very useful for managing the complexity of high-dimensional nonlinear systems. I will also show some ideas about exploiting a concentration-of-measure inequality in order to derive bounds on the error of approximate HDMRs.
