Prof. em. Dr. Mohamed Mansour - 30.08.1928 - 26.10.2022 ✝
It was with deep sorrow that we learned of the passing of our beloved colleague, Prof. em. Dr. Mohamed Mansour.
Born 1928 in Dumyat Egypt, he studied Electrical Eng. at University of Alexandria where he received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. in 1951,1953 respectively. Due to the military government he could begin his Dr.sc.techn. degree study at ETH only in 1962 which he finished in 1965. In 1966 and 1967 he was chief assistant and lecturer at at ETH. From 1967 till 1968 he was Assistant Professor at Queen's University, Canada. In 1968 he was elected Professor of Automatic Control at ETH Zürich and head of the Institute for Automatic Control. He has retired in 1993 but remained active as Emeritus Professor until recently, roamed the hallways of the Institute of Automatic Control, picked up new research challenges within number theory, and shared many fun stories, professional advice, and anecdotes with the next generation of scientists. He will be dearly missed by all of us.
